Ed Lasek, Retiree

We sent off our dear friend and longtime teammate, Ed Lasek, into his much-deserved phase of retirement.

A childhood friend and classmate of Tim Hughes, Eddie officially joined MSS on December 10, 1986. The job of a Service Technician was (and remains!) a demanding one – early mornings and long days on the road, assembling, disassembling, building crates, and everything in between. MSS was in a critical phase of growth, and our Local crew of techs had to bring their A game to every job. Ed was a critical component of our success in the field.

In 2007, he was ready to come off the road and into our Maintenance department. Ed never shied away from jumping in wherever he was needed. He would often run supplies out to a local job when the order changed onsite with no notice. He handled debris pick-ups and deliveries when it wasn’t feasible for another team to do it. The tasks were varied and he always got the job done.

Of course to know Ed is to know his lightning quick wit and unrelenting sense of humor. I’d be remiss at this point not to mention that most requests for his service were accepted along with some trademark razzing, like demanding you pay a toll for his service. Even if you knew it was coming, he’d still beat you to the punchline.

For nearly 40 years, Eddie’s presence has been a constant, even during the most challenging of times. During the pandemic he was among the first to return to the office, his unique sense of humor brightening the day of all who came in during those weird times. Ever the social butterfly, Ed casts a wide net with his relationships. His friendships and connections are very important to him. He always makes a point to say hello and check in, asking questions, having conversations, and dropping some jokes.

We thank Eddie for nearly four decades of service to MSS. This company will be hard to recognize without him, and it certainly won’t be the same, but we’re excited for him and what the future holds in his retirement.
